The Blood Type Diet

Our different blood types - 0,A, B, and AB are the result of varying environments and diet faced by prehistoric man. By knowing your blood type you can tell what is the best diet (and exercise) for your digestive tract and immune system.

The books: Peter D'Adamo, ND- Eat Right 4 Your Type / Steven Weissberg, MD: The Answer is in Your Bloodtype

The Hype

Follow the right diet and exercise for your blood type, you can stay healthy, live longer and achieve your ideal weight.

The Diet

  • Blood Type O - Stone Age hunter ancestry means that you must eat lots of meat and exercise intensely
  • Blood Type A- you are a descendant of prehistoric farmers and require a vegetarian diet because you don't produce enough hydrochloric acid to digest meat. Only yoga and meditation - no exercise.
  • Blood type B- your nomadic ancestry suggests you need to have mostly dairy foods and a little meat- no chicken and only a few grains. You need only moderate exercise
  • Blood Type AB- you need a varied diet that emphasizes seafood, dairy, wheat free grains and soy foods. Do only yoga and mild exercise

The Truth

The blood type theory has never been tested clinically with results published in peer reviewed journals. The idea that some people should not exercise is absurd given what we know about exercise and disease. The theory that type A has inadequate hydrochloric acid is simply untrue. While it's true that some people's stomachs produce less hydrochloric acid that usually happens with age not blood type.

Weight Loss

You will likely lose weight by limiting food choices as long as you can live with the limitations.

The Danger

Any diet that excludes whole classes of food is dangerous, setting you up for chronic disease including cancer, osteoporosis and heart disease.
