Kidney Stones Aquaretics are kidney-friendly herbs not diuretics- they promote blood flow to the kidneys, aid in the excretion of water w/o electrolytes and are very useful for preventing and treating minor infections of the urinary tract. They increase the volume of urine, which dilutes and expels troublesome bacteria. Some aquaretic herbs have additional antiseptic properties, which also helps to combat infections. UTI prevention/treatment- CRANBERRIES prevent bacteria from sticking to urinary tract. Goldenrod leaves and roots- Aquaretic Parsley leaves and root -Aquaretic-may induce photosensitivity- take care in the sun Birch leaves - Aquaretic Lovage root - Aquaretic- may induce photosensitivity Bearberry leaves - Aquaretic-needs an alkaline urine b/c only then does the herb exert it's antibacterial effects- you must modify your diet to include more milk, vegetables and certain fruits such as tomatoes. Instructions - 2 tsp. in 1cup cold H20, bring to boil and allow to stand for 2 minutes before straining, cooling a bit before drinking. Once or twice daily for up to a week, drink lots of water AVOID JUNIPER BERRY- a very active aquaretic that may be toxic.
